Rumor: Phantasy Star Coming to PlayStation Vita

Rumor has it that the next entry in the Phantasy Star Portable line has shifted from PSP to Sony's new handheld, PlayStation Vita.

SEGA developer and Sonic Team member Kenichi Tanase mentioned the title on Twitter, mentioning the name Phantasy Star Victory.

SEGA previously suggested that a third PSP Phantasy Star game would see the light of day - it might be possible that this project has replaced that.

Sega have released the first batch of English-language screenshots for Phantasy Star Portable 2 to celebrate the confirmation of the English language version of the game at E3 2010.

The screenshots show off the free online play as well as single player and cutscenes. The game is due out this Fall - check out the shots below.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 heading West, first screens and boxart released

Sega have just confirmed that Phantasy Star Portable 2 will be arriving in the US and Europe this Fall. They've also released the first screenshots of the English localization alongside the European boxart for the game.

The screenshots show off some of the co-operative combat that the Phantasy Star series has become renowned for since the breakthrough of Phantasy Star Online back on the Dreamcast.

Resonance of Fate's Leanne to appear in Phantasy Star Portable 2

Sega's intense cross-series promotion in Phantasy Star Portable 2 continues with the appearance of Leanne from Resonance of Fate - known as End of Eternity in Japan - in the game.

There's a costume and a gun based off Resonance of Fate now available for a free download in the Japanese version of Phantasy Star Portable. There's no word yet on if these downloads will be available with the Western version.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 Demo Coming

Sega are to release a demo of the upcoming Phantasy Star sequel for the PSP in Japan on November 1st as a digital download from the Playstation Network.

The demo will also be offered on a UMD from November 9th for those without access to a high-speed internet connection to download the sizable demo file.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 is to feature Fanta in a deal between Sega and Coca Cola to promote both the drink and the game together.

In a peculiar match-up the Sci-fi RPG is paired with a decidedly present-day brand and characters in the game will be able to obtain and use Fanta items - presumably as health drinks and so on - in game.
