World of Warcraft loses 1.3 million subscribers in three months

According to the latest financial report from those chappies over at Activision-Blizzard, their MMORPG juggernaught, World of Warcraft, has lost some 1.3 million subbers in three months with CEO Bobby Kotick noting that the majority of these losses were "mainly from the East, but in the West as well."

Nevertheless, the long-running MMORPG is far from being in its death throes; with some 8.3 million folks still sacarficing their social lives to the game.

Blizzard Entertainment and Legendary Pictures announced in a joint press release today that Sam Raimi is set to be the director of the upcoming Warcraft movie.

"At its core, Warcraft is a fantastic, action-packed story," said Raimi. "I am thrilled to work with such a dynamite production team to bring this project to the big screen."
